Now in its 31st year our club was founded in late 1979 as the Southport MG Owners Club, linked to the national MGOC , originally meeting at the Richmond public house near KGV school.
The club then moved its base to to the Beacon Inn pub in Dalton and with the move came the present name .The meeting place then moved to the Wincot Club in Aughton where it stayed until 1997.
With the impending demolition of the Wincot a move was forced on us. After looking at various places (including Briars Hall which turned out to be too expensive at that time!) a temporary base was found at the Red Lion pub in Scarisbrick.
This pub proved unsuitable and our next base at the Scarisbrick Village Hall was first used in March of 1999. It was here that we were able to use the field for various events including our first 3 car shows. These were initially in conjunction with the Village Flower Show and gained in success with each show. The 3rd show enabled us to make a donation of over £1000 to the Village hall. In 2003 we found that the hall field was too small for our plans so we took up the offer to use the fields of Kingswood College at Scarisbrick Hall. This is where we held our next 4 succesful shows from 2003 - 2006. Our success there enabled us to make donations to Derian House Children's Hospice in Chorley ( £1000 in 2006 + another £300 at Christmas), who are now our main adopted charity. We also donated another £400 to 4 other charities in 2006.
After the 2007 show we broke all charity records despite the awful weather at the show. Derian House received £1200 with Queenscourt Hospice and Southport Oncology MDU receiving £900 each bringing our total for the year to £3000.
