The North West Section of the Vintage Motor Cycle Club has been running for over 50 years. We were one of the first sections formed within the VMCC. We do runs, rallies, trials, displays and we meet twice per month in The Baron's Club, Burscough. We have 40-60 members who attend most meetings, and the Christmas Hot Pot Supper and Awards Evening has been increased to 100 due to the popularity of the event.
I have been the North West Chairman for 8 years now, and am also the North West Area rep. I cover the North West, Lakes, Lancashire, Cheshire, North Wales, Manchester and the Isle of Man. I am also on the National Management Comitee. My sister-in-law Angie Graham is our section's secretary, who deals with general day-to-day enquiries and problems and can usually supply information relevant to our section.
Our season starts in January with the Worden Park Show, Leyland, and continues through the year with various shows, events and runs, finalising in the boxing day meet in Parbold. We welcome new members, owning a bike is not a requisite for being a member, even if you do not own a bike you are more more than welcome to come. Any make of motorcycle, from any country, over 25 years old, is eligible to be used in VMCC events, so bikes up to 1985 are eligible. Even if you just have an interest, or an appreciation of machines on 2 wheels, you are welcome to come along, members who are not still able to ride enjoy our meets.
We recently welcomed 28 members from Western Australia, who had completed a months tour of the UK which included the TT, Banbury, Scarborough, and a host of other events all on pre 1930 bikes. We are currently planning the calendar for next years events, please come along and meet us and you will guarantee a warm welcome.
