Brief club history
The club was formed back in 1987 by a small group of Volkswagen enthusiasts on the South East coast of England. They all met regularly to chat about their cars and other advice and help. As more people started to join them they decided to start producing a monthly newsletter and aranging monthly meetings.
Today the club is still based on the principle of enthusiasts getting together; owners of a more varied selection of Volkswagens are members. We have air cooled as well as water cooled models, older as well as brand new models, vans as well as cars. There is always someone with an ongoing never ending project and someone is always available to offer help and advice.
Club nights
For convenience, we have 2 meeting points in Sussex. Some members choose only to go to their local meeting evenings, whereas others go to both. Of course you don't have to attend meeting nights at all, but it's nice to meet up and chat, especially if there's something happenning that night.
Meetings are on the second Wednesday in the month at Langney Sports Club, Priory Lane off Priory Road, Langney, Nr Eastbourne. Also on the last wednesday in the month at Terminal Two bar, Shoreham Airport, West Sussex.
What we get up to:-
We hold our own annual VW show each August, and organise many smaller events including competitions, barbecues, games & food nights, treasure hunts, maintenance demostrations, walks, bike rides, cruises and camps. I could go on...!
We go to a majority of the VW shows in the country, often travelling in a convoy of vehicles.
The Club now has over 160 members; these include single people, couples and families. New members are always welcome, you don't even have to own a VW !
