Our Aim:-
We aim to promote the ownership and use of classic vehicles. We accept owners of modern classics as well as kit cars. Condition is unimportant!
The club is also associated to the ‘Federation of Historic British Vehicle Clubs’ and we have links with clubs in Jersey and the UK.
History of the Club:-
The GCVC actually started back in 1983, but folded on or around about 1988.
In late 1994 the former club President placed an advert in the Guernsey Press looking to meet up with classic car enthusiasts after he purchased a 1972 BMW 3ltr Saloon, and found out that Guernsey did not at that time have an active Classic Vehicle club.
The revived club, including some of the original members, first met in September 1994 and has regularly held monthly pub meetings and car runs ever since.
We held our first small show in October 1995 at Saumarez Manor, and our first large show at Saumarez Park was in held in June 1998, and is now a regular island event, popular with locals and visitors alike.
We organise monthly meetings on Albert Pier St Peter Port last Sunday of each month (unless advised ), usually meeting at 1400 for about an hour display and chat, then we head off to a prearranged destination which usually involves coffee and choice or chosen alternatives.
The Annual Show is held in Saumarez Park Castel on Father's Day each year and features modern vehicles, Military, Race cars and trade stands, and charity stalls.
Children's entertainment has its own area and the main arena features dancing displays and the class awards presentation with specially invited Chief Judge(s).
