The present Automobile Club of North Wales was established in 1982 but was preceded by a much older club of the same name which began in 1904 in Bangor Gwynedd at the dawn of motoring history.
It is now known when this early club ceased to exist but our research indicates the club to be active with 180 members in 1916. We have a members booklet for that year recording members names and the cars they owned.
The present club has a membership of 170 who own vehicles ranging from 1913 to 1972. We hold road runs, static displays, a tour, coach trips and social meetings at the Split Willow Hotel in Llanfiarfechan. We send out a monthly newsletter via post or Email.
Members own a wide variety of vehicles, many are skilled in restoration techniques and the standard of presentation is high, however we encourage the beginner and are willing to advise when requested. The type and make of vehicles is not a problem as long as the date of registration limit of 1972 is acknowledged for entry in club events.
