41 Linden Grove, Alverstoke, Gosport. Hants. PO12 2ED

The South Hants Vehicle Preservation Society (SHVPS) was founded in 1968 by enthusiasts who seek to preserve and keep roadworthy, historic vintage, veteran, and classic cars and commercial vehicles, pedal and motor cycles - in fact anything with wheels and is over 25 years old.
The Society is based in the Solent area and there are currently approximately 350 members with some 800 such vehicles. Whilst members are predominantly Hampshire folk, a notable number live further afield in north Hampshire, Berkshire, Dorset, Sussex, Surrey, Wiltshire and even overseas.
Over forty years the Society has retained a friendly and informal social atmosphere and members can usually find help and advice in the restoration and maintenance of their vehicles which has contributed to the Society’s continued success.

Membership
It is not necessary to own an old vehicle to belong to the Society - anyone with an interest in by-gone transport is welcomed.

There is no age limit but Junior members are required to have written consent of their parent or guardian. The Society’s year commences 1st December and a reduced subscription applies from 1st June. Meetings
Regular meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month from 7:30pm. Between October and April we meet at the Lysses Hotel, The High Street Fareham, whilst during the summer months meetings are held on the second Wednesday at different venues around the area. We also have lunchtime noggins at various venues throughout Hampshire, usually on the last Sunday of the month, although these are sometimes suspended during the summer because of other events taking place.
Club Magazine
Paid up members receive a monthly colour magazine that reports activities and details of forthcoming events. It also carries classified advertisements, important club notices, a club post bag and news from the Federation of British Historic Vehicle Clubs and members contributions - which are always welcomed.

Annual Shows
The Society holds an annual classic car show and autojumble in the grounds of the Queen Elizabeth Country Park, Hillhampton Bottom, adjacent to the A3, approximately three miles south of Petersfield. Next years event takes place on Sunday 28th May. Members who display their classic cars and help to set up the show get free entry.

Benefits
Members share a wide range of mechanical and electrical engineering skills which are aired at regular meetings and events, often identifying long sought after solutions to difficult problems. Other benefits include: Monthly magazine, Handbook for the sole use of members, Subsidised events, Club regalia and Insurance discounts.
