Frank Phillips and Clive Higgins founded the Morris Marina Owners Club, incorporating the Ital Register in 1985 with the intention of recognising the place of the Marina and Ital in its all derivatives in motoring history. The club currently has well over 300 members across the globe who enjoy the benefits of membership.
The Morris Marina was always intended to be a simple and cheap to run contender in the fleet and family car market. Many people have fond memories of the vehicle, despite the scorn levelled at it from some circles of the classic car world. There is no doubt that it was a big seller in its day, with all variants totalling over 1,300,000 and it commanded a respectable re-sale values at 'trade in' time.
The Marina & Ital were the last solely Morris badged cars sold after a long a illustrious marque history. In the literal sense the actual badge honour goes to an Austin/Morris/Rover/Leyland/BL/MG Metro van that was briefly marketed with the once proud badge and the "Morris Garages" marque still thrives.
