Description

Launched in 1961 and celebrated for its stunning design, exceptional performance, and advanced engineering, the E-Type propelled itself to the forefront of British motoring.

Designed by Malcolm Sayer, its aerodynamic shape features a long bonnet, glass-covered headlights, and a sleek fastback roofline. The interior combines classic British sports car aesthetics with luxurious touches, including leather scallop bucket seats and a wooden-rimmed steering wheel.

Powered by a 3. 8-litre inline-six engine, the E-Type accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in about 6. 9 seconds and reaches a top speed of around 150 mph. It features a four-speed manual Moss gearbox and advanced independent suspension for superior handling. Notable innovations include its semi-monocoque construction and four-wheel disc brakes.

The E-Type's design and performance were influenced by Jaguar's racing success, particularly with the D-Type, and it remains a cultural icon, favoured by celebrities and frequently appearing in the media. Highly sought after by collectors, the E-Type Series 1 3. 8 Fixed Head Coupe is a timeless masterpiece in automotive history, admired for its beauty, performance, and historical significance.

Introducing this fabulous 1963 example, finished in the sophisticated Opalescent Gunmetal over a red leather interior, just as the car left the factory when dispatched on 5th September, 1963. This E-Type is the ninth from last to feature the aluminium dash.

Notably, this Jaguar was first owned by the company themselves. Issued with Coventry registration ‘2507 KV’ on delivery, and put to immediate use as a press car. The car can be seen ‘on test’ in Belgium, in an August 1964 issue of Autosport Weekly. The car remains a ‘matching numbers’ example to this day, as confirmed by the Jaguar Heritage Certificate present.

The E-Type benefited from a thorough restoration in the late 90s, with all of the invoices having been retained and filed in order in the vehicles comprehensive history file, alongside extensive photographic records of the work undertaken.

Most recently, this E-Type was cherished by long-term family ownership. Having been acquired in 2010 by Mr. Stephen King, the car was thoroughly enjoyed and cared for after realising a life long dream to own an E-Type. Used on weekends in good weather and garaged when not in use, the car was always enjoyed by Mr. King. Unfortunately, he passed in away in 2017 after battling an illness and the car was passed onto his children who continued to cherish the car.

Today, having been cared for by Hilton & Moss, this E-Type is offered fresh from a sympathetic recommission. With an already fantastic base to work from, attention was focused mainly on the cosmetics of the interior and engine. After a thorough inspection, works were carried out including:

- Strip down of the engine ancillary components
- Full engine bay de-grease
- Renewed top end gaskets
- Removal and refurbishment of the steering rack
- Renewed fuel and vacuum lines, with new clamps and fittings
- Renewed silicone hoses and clamps
- Renewed coolant pipes, thermostat and refurbished radiator with new bushings
- Carburettors rebuilt and tuned
- Heat coated exhaust manifold
- Fan upgrade kit installed with new fan shroud
- Zinc coated fixtures and fittings
- Renewed seals, bushes and mountings
- Renewed front brake flexi lines
- Vehicle service to include oils and filters, brake fluid and spark plugs/ HT leads
- Engine brightwork polished and refinished
- Cylinder head repainted in factory gold finish
- Minor interior trim work including new seat belts
- Exterior bodywork detail and finishing

In summary, this E-Type presents a superb opportunity for its next owner to enjoy classic motoring in one of the most elegant classic cars around. Fresh from recent works, and ready to be enjoyed immediately, the car is complimented by a comprehensive history file outlining previous restoration works and parts invoices, as well as MOT history and ownership documents.

Finished in a rare and desirable original colourway, with low ownership numbers and a charming history, this E-Type would make a great addition to any collection, or a reliable and very usable classic car.
