This rare, impressive Bristol 410 is a car we know very well. With production numbers well under 100, the 410 is an incredibly desirable model and for many Bristol aficionados it has become the V8 of choice with its early style dashboard and interior, the 318 V8 engine and the distinctive bodywork with fabulous lines and rear tail fins.
TYF 447F has in recent years been subject of a detailed restoration and a comprehensive photographic record has documented this. The body was fully stripped down and rebuilt, beautifully re-painted with all windows out, re-fitted with various new brightwork, new tyres, new rubbers and trims and beautifully re-trimmed.
Mechanically the Bristol was re-commissioned and rebuilt as required. The engine was stripped down and subject of a major rebuild to include new crankshaft, high spec solid cam, new camshaft bearings, new pistons, new piston rings, new big end and little end bearings, new high specification oil pump and ported head with new cylinder head valve seats, exhaust guides and cylinder head valves ground and lapped. A new Edelbrock 600cfm carburettor was supplied and fitted, the cooling system upgraded with a larger water pump and rebuilt fans, wiring upgraded as required and the braking system re-conditioned as required including upgraded new servo's.
Having supplied the Bristol to two regular customers since 2020, we took the car back in part exchange in 2024 and sold it to a new customer, a US businessman living in London. We agreed an extensive program of work to include fitting new period chrome buckled seat belts at Quick Fit in London, whilst this was being done the wood door capping's were completely stripped and renewed. We carried out some detailed paintwork, and also carried out a major service and program of mechanical work (new Telescopic dampers to the front and rear, new handbrake pads, upper front ball joints, new transmission sump gasket, gearbox shaft seal, major braking system service) to ensure the Bristol was in top class mechanical order. In total over £5000 has been spent on the car in late 2024 and early 2025. Due to a change circumstances, the new owner has had to re-locate to the US for the time being, so rather than store the car in London and it have no use this year, the owner has made the reluctant decision to sell the car.
On the road the Bristol is a delight, the engine has outstanding performance and with the benefit of the Edelbrock carburettor has improved starting, economy and performance. The Bristol also has a wider rear axle upgrade for improved handling, brakes are also upgraded so not only is this 410 incredibly useable, it drives significantly better than a standard Bristol 410. This is a beautiful looking car that has had significant recent expense ensuring it proves and enjoyable experience for its next owner. Receipts since restoration now total over £10, 000 for upkeep and maintenance, and its absolutely on the button and ready to drive and enjoy.
