The 20DB Sports Single was one of four roadsters in Greeves' 1961 line-up and was powered by the four-speed Villiers 9E engine, which had first featured in the 1956 range powering the preceding D model, the Fleetstar. The model designation changed to 20DC for 1962 and the Sports Single continued in this guise until production ceased at the end of 1966, by which time it was one of only two roadsters left in the range.
Morrissey of Essex supplier plaque attached to the taillight, this believed original and unrestored Greeves 20DC comes with a hand-written list of previous owners: six in all including our vendor, who acquired the machine in 1990. The machine has been dry stored when not in use and currently displays a total of 41, 502 miles on the odometer at the time of cataloguing/ photography (the engine turns with compression).
This Greeves was first registered in UK and then exported to Guernsey in 1990. It comes with a Guernsey Registration Certificate for '12379'. It should be noted that the UK Vehicle Registration Number '606 YKN' is associated with a 1990 'Export' marker in the HPI/ DVLA database. Accordingly, prospective purchasers should satisfy themselves with regard to the validity and status of this motorcycle's registration prior to bidding. The successful purchaser is responsible for applying to the DVLA to retrieve the vehicle's registration number. In addition to the aforementioned documents the machine comes with the 1990 permanent export paperwork.
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams Motorcycles website for all pertinent auction information.
