Description
2013 Morgan 4/ 4 which we have owned since new. It comes with the original invoice, spare keys and handbook. Full service history including all the bills. Superbly maintained by Morgan specialists and always garaged.
The eye catching colour is Ash Green which was a BMC colour from the 1950's. There are not many Morgans this colour and it always garners a lot of compliments.
4/ 4's from this year had the Ford sigma engine as used in the Ford Focus and Caterham amongst other cars. This one also has the MX5 gearbox which makes for an excellent combination.
When new the car came with the following options:-
Ash green paintwork
Green leather upholstery to match the paintwork
Green carpets
Full bumpers
Spare Wheel
Footwell lighting
Factory fitted radio with remote control
Elasticated door pockets
Clock
Map reading light
Tread rubber on the running boards
Centre armrest with extra power supply (Dealer fitted)
Since then we have added the following:-
Stainless steel Luggage rack
Mota Lita steering wheel
Round convex rear view mirrors
Rod mounted central mirror
Mesh Grille
Front valance (Wolf Performance)
Zip out rear window (Allon White)
Performance improvements as follows:-
ECU remapped (Williams Morgan)
4. 1:1 Differential and LSD (Williams Morgan)
Performance exhaust manifold (New Elms Morgan)
Suspension upgrade (New Elms Morgan)
We have had a fabulous time with this car and have toured extensively here and in Europe including France, Belgium, Germany, Denmark, Spain and Portugal. Consequently we have done 47, 000 trouble free miles which is more than most Morgans this age but nothing for a similar aged Focus!
All the improvements have been done after we had driven the car for a while and then considered the options.
When the car was new the gearing was too high, 5th was just an overdrive and it was not always possible to make smooth progress in traffic due to the car wanting to be between first and second gear. This was fixed by fitting a lower ratio rear axle which instantly transformed the driveability and made the car much more responsive and engaging.
A luggage rack is pretty much essential especially if you are travelling abroad. The mesh grille is there to protect the radiator as well as improving the looks. The mirrors are a big improvement over standard and mean you don't have to bob your head around when driving. If the sun is out and the hood is down we found we were being overcooked especially in the South of France. Putting the hood up and taking the side screens off worked well but the hood bowed up and there was a lot of tension on the windscreen. Having the zip out window fitted meant we could turn the hood into a sunshade. In hot weather with the side screens off this quickly became my favourite way to drive the car.
