Description
1964 Ford Cortina MK1 2 Door circuit race car. This is a RHD Import from South Africa. Its fitted with 1600 crossflow and did compete in club racing in South Africa. Its more functional than beautiful but the car goes very very well.
Body - 2 Door Cortina MK1. Good solid shell. Has had some repairs over the years and some strengthening plates added.; Has top links on the rear axle and a panhard road fitted on the rear. Has a few bruises here and there. Windows are all poly and not glass. No bumpers fitted. Quarter windows are missing but we will try and find a set. Strut top holes have been widened to give extra camber. Paintwork is ok but no show winner. Inside the boot has been removed and flat plated and a race fuel cell installed.
Mechanics - 1600 crossflow which goes very very well. Trying to find out some spec on this car. If we do I will update the listing. 4 Speed box, side exit exhaust, twin 40s, steering rack conversion, adjustable Rs2000 track control arms, uprated anti roll bar, uprated springs, 3 link rear end, uprated springs,
Interior - Full roll cage which goes right into the boot. Single race seat. Race car style gauges and wiring. Again not beautiful but all seems to work. Foot rest fitted
Wheels - Superlite style wheels with 185/ 60/ 13 Yokohama A048 tyres.
We drive lots of these old Fords but this one gave us quite a surprise as to how quick it was for a crossflow. It would make a great track day car or racer with a few upgrades.
