Description
Introduction
The Land Rover Defender is one of those iconic vehicles that almost everyone recognises. The first generation was, visually at least, almost unchanged in over half a century of production, although in it’s later years a lot was done to update it and here we have one of the very las, t first generation models, in 110 pick up guise.
Powered by the later 2. 2 litre 122 bhp Ford Dura-torque diesel engine it is in enviable condition and has just 26704 miles on the clock.
Finished in Santorini Black with Grey vinyl twill upholstery our 110 P/ U has only had 2 owners. Initially owned by Stratstone Land Rover of Nottingham, who kept it for 2 years, it was then sold to a gentleman in Wrexham who owned it for the next 7 years.
Exterior
As you’d expect from an example with such low miles and ownership, the bodywork and paint on this Defender are in fantastic condition throughout and is a true credit to the care and attention its received throughout its lifetime.
There does not appear to be any sign of surface corrosion on the bodywork, nor any signs of impact damage or mis-aligned panels, whilst the only particularly note-worthy mark we can see are some scratches to the top of the near side wing.
Our Defender also comes with a very smart Tan rear canvass hood, although actually not canvass but hard waring vinyl! It is supported by a genuine Land Rover galvanised frame. All of which is in near perfect condition and is completely removeable.
All four “Boost” alloy wheels are in excellent condition, shod in suitably macho-looking Continental Cross-Contact all-terrain tyres with plenty of life left in them, and a matching spare wheel and tyre is mounted at the front of the pick up bed.
Interior
Again, like the exterior, the interior is nothing like you would expect from a 9 year old Defender pick up!
The Vinyl Twill seats are unmarked and immaculately clean, as are all the dash plastics and switch gear. All the contact points show next to no signs of wear and tear, in fact it is only the rubber floor in the drivers foot well that gives away that it has ever been sat in!
Although not having the biggest of spec lists, what the Defender does have, all works perfectly including the Sony head unit which has Bluetooth music streaming and phone connectivity.
The Mechanicals
As you would imagine with such a low mileage, the Defender drives just as it should. Underneath and under the bonnet, everything is dry with no signs of leaks, very un Land Rover like!!!
We don’t have a huge amount of service history with the Defender but it is clear that it has been well maintained over the years, this is backed up by the fact it has never had an MOT advisory, including its current one which is valid until September 2025.
Conclusion
Presented in exceptional condition, this 2015 registered 110 pick up is a fantastic, late model example of the iconic Defender, from the last full year of production.
Clearly benefiting from attentive ownership and care, this is an excellent and useable example, be that for work or purely for pleasure.
