This stunning Lamborghini Diablo was supplied new in April 2002 by H R Owen Lamborghini London (UK supplied RHD). It is one of 343 6. 0 VT models in existence and one of an estimated 30 right-hand drive cars supplied to the UK. The car is finished in Nero Pegaso (Black Horse) with a Nero Perseus leather interior that covers every interior surface, the latter featuring a fully exposed carbon-fibre driving zone, including the transmission tunnel.
After Lamborghini had been acquired by Audi in 1998, its new owners tasked Lamborghini's chief designer Luc Donckerwolke to design a more refined and improved Diablo. The result was the 6. 0 VT, which featured significant styling changes both inside and out and was built to a much higher standard than earlier Diablos, sharing a lot of its switchgear and quality enhancements with the forthcoming Lamborghini Murcielago released in 2002.
This particular car has the following factory fitted options:
Sports exhaust system
Nero Pegaso metallic paint
Four-wheel drive (VT system)
Nero Perseus two-tone full leather interior (Seat centres, lower dash and lower door panels in grigio, the rest of the interior in Nero.)
Sports seats with manual lumbar toggle and electronically operated seat backs
The Lamborghini factory has confirmed that this particular Diablo Coupe was optioned as a special-order car with customer specified "6. 0 SE" fitments; as follows:
Centrally mounted Lamborghini badge on the rear grille (signalling the badge's future location on later models such as the Murciélago)
Oro (gold painted) engine, no doubt ordered as spectacular, albeit very expensive, option (the regular engines were painted silver)
Stencilled Lamborghini script on the brake calipers
Additional exposed carbon-fibre areas (front splitter sections, side skirts, door entry sills)
Embossed Lamborghini logos on the seat headrests
Exposed carbon-fibre in the engine bay, the underside of the front trunk lid, and the engine lid
In addition, the car has been fitted with a recommissioned modern Alpine & Audison sound system (a close match to the OEM system).
Recommissioned alarm system by Sigma (carried out by Accutek of Winchester)
It is also important to note that the 6. 0 had a modern climate control system superior to that found in earlier models. The Diablo 6. 0 was in production from 2000 to 2001, so chassis number '2891' of the approximately 2, 903 made is effectively a last-of-the-line model, ordered at the end of 2001 but not registered until 2002. The Diablo has belonged to the current vendor since 2014.
The car comes with full-service history with H R Owen Lamborghini London Service Centre and other specialists dating from its running in service, carried out on 22nd April 2002 at 1, 291 miles, to its most recent service with Exotic & Supercar undertaken on 28th March 2024 at 19, 104 miles. (The current odometer reading is 19, 220 miles.) The entire service history, press clippings, brochures and documents will be presented in several leather folders.
The full list of works carried out over the last 23 years is far too lengthy to reproduce here. Significant highlights include extensive refurbishment undertaken in 2015 to bring the car to superlative condition (Please see the detailed document within the cars file summarising all work completed over the cars life - supplied by the vendor): Magnesium wheels refurbished and repainted; installation of the aforementioned sound system; installation by Accutek of a Thatcham approved tracking system; installation of a rear view camera system; installation of iPhone connectivity; ceramic coating & extensive PPF to paintwork and much more besides.
From 2015 to 2019 the Diablo was looked after and stored professionally by Denyer Classic Cars. In the autumn of 2019 the car was sent to H R Owen Lamborghini London to have some major works completed. Works included both cylinder heads being rebuilt, starter motor replaced, clutch and release bearing replaced while the engine was out, engine and filter service, the left-hand door locking solenoid was replaced, and numerous more minor issues were addressed.
Because of Covid, these works were not completed until June 2020, by which time the car had covered 15, 603 miles. In 2021 Accutek of Winchester installed the aforementioned insurance rated and compliant Sigma alarm system. From 2021 to the present the Lamborghini has been looked after by Sports Italia (now Exotic & Supercar). Sports Italia carried out a major service and rectification of faults in October 2022, and in March 2024 Exotic & Supercar carried out an annual service. The car was MoT'd on 28th February 2025 with no advisories noted.
This exceptional Diablo comes with all invoices relating to the aforementioned works, testifying to the vendor's exemplary no-expense-spared approach to its care and maintenance (inspection essential). Also included in the sale is a Diablo 6. 0 owner's manual; original tool kit; Lamborghini mechanics' white gloves; both original 6. 0 sales brochures from 2002; and a current V5C Registration Certificate.
All lots are sold 'as is/ where is' and Bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. Visit the Bonhams|Cars website for all pertinent auction information.
