EXTERIOR
The Sport Evolution variant encompasses the true competition bloodline of the M3, born out of the necessity for further race homologation, with wider front arches, extendable front splitter and staggered rear wing it was designed and bred for the the racing circuit. This stunning M3 has been subject to a full rotisserie restoration leaving no bolt left unloved; repainted in the cars factory colour of ‘Brilliant Red’ this M3 now looks superb with the vibrant finish giving the box arch stance and shape an undeniable presence.
The underside is incredibly clean and as one would expect from a fresh restoration, whilst the front of the car remains stone chip free with both bumpers in excellent order. The model specific front and rear wings are clean and tidy alongside the aerodynamic rubber trims between bonnet and Sport Evolution front wings.
INTERIOR
Stepping over the M3 sill strips into the high back seat is a drivers treat with all the controls clean, clear and easy to access. The proudly embossed Anthracite M-Cloth is the real treat here presented as new; clean and tight having been fully re-trimmed during the cars restoration with the rear seats and door cards identical.
The model specific suede steering wheel, gear knob and handbrake can certainly suffer over time however wear on this example is light with good colour and feel. Specified from the factory with an electric sunroof this example is in perfect road trip specification.
The steering wheel links to one of the most communicative and exciting steering racks and chassis available and it is no wonder the E30 M3 has such a loyal following and rich race history.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This final homologation 2. 5 litre engine is the pinnacle of E30 performance; yielding improved torque the end result is a more progressive power delivery through the rev range and with around 20bhp more than its predecessors. As a road car, the improved torque makes the car eminently more driveable without sacrificing the epic top end of one of the world’s finest four pots.
The engine bay presents impeccably and the S14 was fully rebuilt during restoration. Now complete, and having covered it’s running in process / service the car sits in excellent working order, with the mechanicals finished to the same standard if not better than the day it rolled off the production line.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The wheels are a factory correct set of 16 inch cross spoke alloys with Nogaro silver centres, all of which are in excellent condition. Matching Yokohama rubber is fitted all round with all four tyres showing excellent tread depth.
Braking is assured thanks to the total overhaul during its restoration. The front brakes are enhanced on the Sport Evolution with brake ducts replacing the fog lights to maximise cooling.
HISTORY FILE
This Brilliant Red example was supplied new to the UK on the 24th April 1990. Only fifty Sport Evolutions were officially supplied new to the UK via the dealer network, 25 red and 25 black.
Up until 2019 the car was regularly used and maintained evident from its history file containing a plethora of invoices, with the V5 showing just 5 owners from new.
Looking used after nearly 154k miles on the UK roads, this limited race homologation model was due a refresh, and an incredible refresh it got. A full and comprehensive nut and bolt rotisserie restoration was carried out in 2022 by award winning marque specialists – RS Garage of Portugal – with a full photographic record of the work undertaken occupying it’s own folder in the history file. As such the car now presents as a near new example in every way, impeccably clean throughout.
Presented with the car is 2 keys, a V5 and a ring binder file full of paperwork and provenance from it’s first life as well as its rejuvenation back to new.
