1981 Ford Escort 1600 Sport which has only covered 30, 000 miles from new or 47000 Kms. We sourced this car about 5 years ago from an enthusiast and brought it over from South Africa. It was sold into a private collection and is now again offered for sale. This is one of the nicest most original examples we have seen for a long time. OK, so Biege is not everybodies favourite colour, but its more favourable than rust, filler, fibreglass and holes. We have the V5 for the car but as its not been used much in the UK no real other paperwork.
Body - Export spec shell with similar strengthening to our RS models. All original metalwork and really solid from front to back. The car has been waxoyled or an equivalent from new which has protected it. Paintwork is also very nice and looks very original to me. There are a few very minor marks but overall a lovely original old car, which hasnt been messed with. Good quarter bumpers with front and rear overriders. Original Ford flat headlights and original Ford spotlights as well.
Mechanics - Original engine which fires up no problem. No smoke or rattles. Everything is completely standard and the car drives as it should for a low mileage car. It doesnt feel like in its been in a million bits either. Gearbox, clutch and brakes are all good.
Interior - Again this is all original and in very good order. No cracks in dash top. Seats are nice and firm. Steering wheel still has the grain on the top and not worn away. Door cards have had speakers fitted back in the day.
Wheels - 5 original deep dish steels with good tyres and original centre caps. This is a cracking example of a 1600 Sport. We have brought in 100s of these cars over the last 12 years and seldom do we get one as good as this. You are welcome to come and see the car. We have a ramp so you can look underneath.
