Description

This now scarce car, is from the BMC ADO17 stable of cars and came from a substantial private collection, understandably it is in remarkably well preserved condition. Basically an upscale, 4 door, stretched Austin Mini Cooper, with an inline six-cylinder overhead cam. twin-carb, 110 HP engine. It was aimed at the Executive Company car market, (was the Bank Managers favourite steed) so designed for comfort and quietness with a 6 cyl engine and an electrically operated fan, which made it even more quiet. The contoured front seats are fully reclinable with foldaway arm rest and the fascia panel is awash with polished walnut veneer, typical Wolseley. Unusually for a company car, this example has been used very sparingly, only averaging a little over 250 miles per annum for the past 14 years, so we believe the current mileage of 50, 000 is probably genuine, it certainly looks and drives accordingly. Presented in attractive Bahama Gold bodywork with unmarked interior to tone. The transverse engine allows for plenty of room inside, no modern car can match it for spaciousness. You’ll be the only person at your next Rally with one of these babies, so don’t miss this rare opportunity. When its gone its gone! The Wolseley Owner’s Club would be very pleased to hear from you as well. Comes with a V5, a wad of past MOTs, UK Market Sales Brochure, Lots of show material IE Panama straw hat, lady’s Mink fur tippet scarf, picnic blankets and tray, teddy bear mascot, 2 folding chairs. Also road tools and starting handle. Car located in Lytham St Annes, Lancs. Transport arranged at £1. 60 per loaded mile. For more on this rare car, call John on number above. Exchanges considered.

Model History
The Wolseley Six was introduced in 1972, alongside the Austin and Morris 2200. Unlike the Austin/ Morris models, which continued alongside the existing 1800 models, the Wolseley replaced the 18/ 85 four cylinder model. The Wolseley Six used a six cylinder version of the existing E series 1500cc OHC engine, first seen in the Austin Maxi, to give 2227cc and 110 BHP using twin SU carburettors. Available with a four speed manual or an automatic gearbox. Most of the other changes from the 18/ 85 were of a cosmetic nature, i. e. seat materials, and the deletion of wood door caps.
The model continued until 1975, when it was replaced by the Wolseley 18-22 ‘Wedge’.
