The Story:
In 2014, after 35 years in the motor trade Bill Tunnicliff was looking for a retirement project. Bill has had a passion for Morris 1000’s since the early days of his apprenticeship and when he found a two-owner pick-up for sale in Kent he simply had to check-out if it was the car for him.
The pick-up was supplied by the factory to George Fitt & Company of Whitstable. From here, it was sold to W. G. Relton, a local building firm also in Whitstable, where the car stayed until “retired” 1993, put into a barn and simply forgotten. After inspection Bill, and his son Dean, decided it was the perfect project for them and a deal was done.
The Pick-Up was stripped to its component parts
Chassis/ Bodywork:
Replacement galvanised chassis handmade to original specification. Every panel inspected, rebuilt or replaced as necessary with invoices and pictures for every stage of the project.
Mechanical:
Bill wanted to retain the original specification of his pick-up. All running gear was checked and any components replaced (the Chase Minors spares bin took a big hit) as necessary including a full engine rebuild.
Paint:
Respray to concourse standard in original Morris mid-blue.
Interior:
Full Newton Commercial interior and simply beautiful.
The result is a testament to the craftsmanship, skill & knowledge of Bill, his son Dean, and the team of craftsmen that made their dream a reality. Please check the pictures - the Minor simply will not disappoint.
