Factory built De Dion rear suspension car offering the best Caterham classic driving experience with a top spec 1903cc Ford X/ Flow engine giving 175bhp at the wheels.
This car offers that immaculately balanced handling characteristics of a Seven with a retro exhaust note and wonderful induction noise from the side draught carburettors. The engine power at 175bhp which is probably the sweet spot for performance in a Seven on road or track. Its sweet, smooth engine pulls extremely well from low revs offering a lightweight, perfectly balanced car when compared to the more heavier, often over powered modern engined Caterhams.
Being a 1990’s Series 3 Imperial chassis it is bronze welded which produces a strong, ductile joint with minimal distortion. Later Caterham chassis are MIG welded that can crack later in life as the metal near to the weld can become brittle.
This is a good investment Caterham as high specification Ford X/ flow cars are rarer.
