The pictures will speak for themselves, as you'll see this rare and beautiful Esprit S4S is in pristine, unmodified condition. It has been stored in a dehumidified garage alongside a small collection of other highly desirable Lotuses in excellent condition.
The current owner has had the car for over 10 years, purchasing it from Paul Matty. It has only covered about a thousand miles during their ownership, totalling approximately just 4, 000 miles since 2004. Throughout this time, the car has been serviced regularly—typically every two years or so—by either Paul Matty or, more recently, another highly reputable Lotus specialist. Each service has been executed under the instruction 'to do whatever is required'.
The last C-Service and cambelt replacement were completed less than 100 miles ago, but the car will undergo another service in April to ensure everything is in top condition for the next owner.
The car comes with a detailed service history file that goes back to its days at Lotus, including records and copies of the V5s for all four previous owners.
The photos presented here were taken by me on March 15th during my inspection of the car. You may remember this vehicle, as it previously belonged to the late celebrity chef Gary Rhodes. He was the second owner, buying it directly from Lotus. He often expressed regret over having sold it:
In a 2011 interview with the Daily Mail, he said:
"The unqualified regret you wish you could amend... Selling my dream ‘supercar’ ten years ago because I joined Damon Hill’s supercar rental club P1. The car was a Lotus Esprit S4S, a one-off test car. It became a family member, and I’d buy it back tomorrow if I could."
