Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The March Timed Online Auction on Thursday the 27th of March, Online. Background:
The BMW M5 is a high performance variant of the BMW 5 Series marketed under the BMW M sub-brand. It is considered an iconic vehicle in the sports saloon category. The M5 has mostly been produced in the saloon body style, though there have been generations of the M5 also available as an estate.
The first M5 model was hand built beginning in late 1984 on the E28 535i chassis, with a modified engine from the M1, which made it the fastest production saloon at the time. M5 models have been produced for every generation of the 5 Series since 1984, with occasional gaps in production.
The F10 M5 was unveiled at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show and sales began in November 2011. It is powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, making it the first turbocharged M5 model. The gearbox is a 7-speed Getrag dual-clutch transmission, marking the first time an M5 has used a dual-clutch automatic transmission.
The Car:
This original UK-market car is one of only 30 Performance Edition M5s, with the production run divided equally between blue, white, and red cars. While performance remains the same as the standard car, this special M5 wears Frozen Blue paint and was equipped with £22, 075 worth of optional equipment as standard, including the M Sport multi-function seats with lumbar support, split-folding rear seats, soft-close doors, a reversing camera and the BMW Professional 12-speaker system.
It also features Alcantara trim for the headlining and steering wheel, unique blue stitching on the seats and dashboard and blue binding around the floor mats.
This eye-catching BMW M5 Performance Edition is a well kept example of a rare variant of the F10 generation super-saloon. Powered by a 4. 4-litre twin-turbocharged V8 producing 552bhp and mated to a 7-speed automated dual-clutch transmission, this German super saloon can sprint to 60mph from rest in 4. 3 seconds. The odometer reads 79, 000 miles from new.
The M5’s cabin is a combination of luxury features and exclusive Performance Edition touches. The electrically adjustable leather seats are in very good order, with only minor signs of use, but with no splits or damage to their upholstery. The Alcantara steering wheel shows minor signs of use, while the gear lever, handbrake switch, and iDrive controls remain in good order.
All in all, this one of 30 Performance M5 is sensibly priced, making it a great candidate for entry into a Collection or for someone seeking a blisteringly fast daily driver.
