Description

The Chevrolet Corvette C2, produced between 1963 and 1967, is one of the most iconic generations of the famous American sports car. Designed under the direction of Bill Mitchell and inspired by the XP-87 Stingray Racer prototype, it marked a break with the first generation (C1) by introducing a more aggressive design and major technical innovations.

One of the most striking features of the C2 is its sculpted, aerodynamic design, particularly the 1963 version with its two-part windscreen, known as the ‘Split-Window’. This unique design was abandoned in 1964 to improve rear visibility, but it remains one of the most sought-after features by collectors. The C2 was also the first Corvette to adopt independent rear suspension, considerably improving its road holding and performance.

Under the bonnet, the Corvette C2 offered a wide range of V8 engines, from the 327 cubic inch (5. 4L) Small-Block to the formidable 427 cubic inch (7. 0L) Big-Block. The 327 ci engine, particularly appreciated for its balance between power and lightness, was available in several configurations, ranging from 250 to 375 horsepower depending on the version. One of the most powerful was the Rochester fuel injection version, developing 360 to 375 horsepower and allowing the C2 to offer exceptional performance with excellent responsiveness and high engine speed. These engines enabled the C2 to achieve impressive levels of performance for the time, particularly with the legendary 1967 L88 version, which unofficially delivered more than 500 horsepower despite a technical specification announcing only 430 horsepower.

In addition to its performance, the Corvette C2 stood out for its numerous versions and options, including the option of a four-speed manual gearbox, a limited-slip differential and disc brakes, introduced in 1965. These improvements reinforced its status as a true sports car capable of competing with the best European productions.
The end of production of the Corvette C2 in 1967 paved the way for the next generation, the C3, which would take over many design and mechanical elements while adapting to new safety and emissions standards. Nevertheless, the C2 remains one of the most prized Corvettes among enthusiasts and collectors today, perfectly embodying the golden age of American muscle cars.

With its iconic design, high level of performance and indelible heritage, the Corvette C2 remains a true automotive legend, a symbol of American know-how and passion for sports cars.

This example, imported from the USA, is a 5. 4L version with 250hp and manual transmission, and is in very good condition and works perfectly.
