Now in stock with us at RFH Classics we have this 1971 (J) Volvo 164 4 Dor that is finished in Gold Metallic with the Tan Leather interior and a low recorded mileage of just 46, 400 miles. Over the past 2 years we have sold four of these Volvo 164 but this is without doubt the nicest example we have had the pleasure of offering and with the lowest recorded mileage. Our investigations have lead us to believe there are only 18 still remaining on the UK roads so this is a truly rare opportunity for collectors.
This particular car was supplied new by William Yeates Ltd of Leicestershire and first registered in March 1971. It comes complete with a couple of very desirable factory options of a sunroof and the 4 speed manual gearbox with overdrive. Records indicate that in 2013 the car underwent a light restoration, including a repaint in its original colour and finished to a spectacular standard. We believe, based on the condition and paperwork supplied, that the mileage is likely genuine, though it cannot be fully verified.
Introduced in 1968, the Volvo 164 saw the brand bring back the straight six engine into a saloon luxury designed to compete with the likes of Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar. Built on the 140 series platform, it combined Volvo’s reputation for durability with a more refined, leather trimmed interior and premium features. Under the bonnet, the 3. 0L B30 inline-six engine provided a smooth, reliable driving experience, making it a standout executive car of its time.
Included with the car we have a history file that includes an original Volvo book pack with a stamped service record, a large number of previous MOT certificates and maintenance records, a large amount of tax discs dating from 1972 through to mid 2010, a feature of the car in the Car magazine and records of an engine rebuild from 2020 making a great record to accompany the car.
