Description
The Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 is a motoring icon that has left its mark on the history of the British automotive industry. Produced between 1971 and 1975, this version of the famous E-Type is distinguished mainly by its 5. 3-litre V12 engine, a first for Jaguar in a road car.
When Jaguar launched the E-Type in 1961, it was immediately praised for its elegant design and impressive performance. However, over the years, regulations changed and competition became increasingly fierce. To meet these challenges, Jaguar introduced the Series 3 in 1971, a revamped and modernised version of the E-Type.
The main innovation of this new series was its V12 engine, developing 272 horsepower and offering a smoother and more powerful ride than previous models. This engine allowed the car to reach a top speed of 240 km/ h and accelerate from 0 to 100 km/ h in about 6. 4 seconds.
In addition to the engine, other modifications were made to the Series 3. The chassis was reinforced, power steering became standard, and the suspension was improved to offer better driving comfort. Visually, the car adopted a wider grille, widened wheel arches to accommodate wider tyres, and dual exhaust pipes.
The Jaguar E-Type Series 3 V12 is available in two versions: the 2+2 coupé and the roadster. The latter configuration is very successful, thanks to its sleek appearance and its open-air driving pleasure.
This is an American version with automatic transmission. The 4 Zenith carburettors and their complex pollution control system have been replaced by 6 twin-choke carburettors! An incredible sound, and what a shape for this Jaguar V12. An absolute must-see!
