Here's a rare and lovely Porsche. It's a 1980 924 Turbo, one of less than 100 examples that are believed to still exist in the UK. It is finished in distinctive two-tone Diamond Silver Metallic over Helios Blue Metallic, with Turbo multispoke wheels.
The interior is pure joy, finished as it in psychedelic Pascha fabric – a wild black and grey chequer inspired by the work of optical artist Bridget Riley. The cabin is in astonishingly good original condition, with no cracks in the dashboard (a common problem). A modern Blaupunkt Skagen 400 DAB radio looks period yet offers DAB radio and Bluetooth connectivity.
This example has just 54, 000 miles on the clock, and the condition of the interior and the MoT history (we have certificates going back to 1985) suggest that this is genuine. The car was treated to a full respray in 2017, the engine and turbocharger were reconditioned, plus a new clutch, brake master cylinder and various other parts were fitted. It has been in dry storage ever since. We shall give the car a full service and recommissioning, plus a new MoT. The car has the registration SJI 8924.
The 924 Turbo was produced from 1978 to 1983 and boasts a 170bhp turbocharged engine, which offered a significant increase over the standard 924's 125bhp. the Turbo is further distinguished by its lower stance, multispoke 15inch alloy wheels, a row of four intakes in the nose, and a very cool NACA duct in the bonnet. The 924 Turbo interior features unique green graphics on the instruments, plus the aforementioned Pascha trim. If you're looking for a super-rare Porsche, with a Turbo badge, for an affordable price, this surely is the car for you.
