Description
This exquisite Lynx XKSS was one of of nine XKSS cars constructed by Lynx and was originally built for to order for noted Jaguar and Ecurie Ecosse collector Dick Skipworth, founder and CEO of Mermac, finished in British Racing Green with mid green leather interior
According to Chris Keith-Lucas the car was to be visually identical to the original XKSS of Steve McQueen, known as the 'Green Rat' which they had restored one year prior to the construction of this car! Following Skipworth's ownership the Jaguar was exported to the USA to join another renowned collection owned by Gary Bartlett before it joined the collection of actor Nicholas Cage in Los Angeles who owned and enjoyed the car for many years.
After Cage the car was sold to another noted collector Herb Wetanson in New York before it was repatriated to the UK in the early 2010s and carefully detailed and lightly restored by leading restorer Thorney Kelham, with the brief to retain as much patination as possible.
The Lynx then formed part of the Chris Evans collection before the vendor acquired the car in 2016 where it has remained to the current day. Maintained by leading Jaguar experts CKL Developments throughout the current ownership, this magnificent example has just been serviced at CKL under the watchful eye of Chris Keith-Lucas who was a founding member of the original Lynx team
Interested parties should note this car is fitted with period correct 3. 8L engine with Weber Carburettors and Dry Sump lubrication system, seldom seen as most Lynx were fitted with 4. 2L with wet sump lubrication. We have recently had the privilege of driving this exceptional example and it is an incredibly exciting drive with tremendous performance and road holding but eminently usable and tractable with a road clutch fitted
Supplied with UK V5 registration, US title from Nicolas Cage ownership, CKL service history and FIVA passport document, this truly special Lynx has exceptional provenance and ready to bring a big smile on the face of its next lucky custodian!
