1968 'G' registered with 24, 745 miles showing (Cannot be verified) Lotus White with a Sherwood Green Stripe, Black Vinyl Seats and 3 Spoke Leather Rimmed Steering Wheel.
The MK2 Series 1. 5 'Lotus Cortina' was built using the heavy duty and already rally successful MK2 GT Body shell with Anti Tramp Bars on the rear and rolled wheel arches at the front to accommodate the wider wheels. 2 Prototype GT's were sent to the Boreham Plant to be developed into the Cortina 'Lotus' where the suspension was also developed, lowered by an inch and upgraded, and the car fitted with radial tyres. The result was a car that handled really well on the road as a Performance saloon.
There was a Performance Options Package available for the first time ever, that enabled any owner to transform their 'Lotus Cortina' from the Performance Road car that left the factory, to replicate the 'Works' cars if they wanted to.
This particular 'Lotus Cortina' comes with the log book change from 1986. the bodyshell looks to be in exceptional condition all round and presents amazingly underneath. The engine sounds fabulous and pulls very well, making this a very enjoyable car to drive. All in all, a very solid example which looks fantastic from every angle and a very easy car to own, maintain and enjoy, and would generate a crowd in any car show or meet.
