This 1957 Triumph TR3 is well priced to reflect the current market and we have recently imported this rare original right hand drive example from South Africa having sourced it from the Graaf Reinet museum on it's closing down.
In 1955, the Triumph TR3 two seater roadster was introduced and it came with a 95 BHP 1991cc straight-4 overhead valve engine. This first version of the TR3 was built between 1955 and 1957 and came with a 4 speed gearbox, overdrive unit and twin SU-H6 carburettors.
In 1956 the TR3 became the first British production car to feature disc brakes and this example has since had a further upgrade with a servo fitted.
A water expansion tank and electric fan have been fitted to improve cooling together with a high torque starter motor. The cylinder head has been converted for use with unleaded fuel. A stainless steel exhaust completes the upgrades for reliable use in modern traffic and this example has been very well maintained and cared for by it's previous enthusiast owner.
It has always been an inland SA car and has never been welded or seen rust retaining the integrity of factory original metalwork. This is the main reason we import cars from hot dry climate areas. The paint is in excellent condition with no marks or blemishes and the interior which has been re-trimmed at some point is similarly in great condition. Mechanically the Twin SU's have just been tuned and balanced and it runs supremely well out on the road.
The hood is in excellent condition and fits well with no rips or tears whilst 48 spoke chrome wire wheels complete the look. Finally this model year TR3 is Mille Miglia eligible. Now UK registered as '302 XWF'
