Few Porsches evoke motorsport history quite as effectively as the ‘Slantnose’ (or ‘Flatnose’) 911 Turbos built between 1981 and 1989. Initially offered only as part of the ‘Sonderwunsch-Programm’ (special wishes program), the M505 package radically transformed the standard 930-generation 911 Turbo with a 935-inspired front end, wider rear flares, and large fender air intakes. By 1987, public interest was high enough for the company to officially add it to the order forms. With a cost that nearly doubled the MSRP of the completed car, it is no wonder only 948 Turbos were so equipped (buyers could also specify a Carrera with the package).
The high cost can be partially explained by how they were built at the factory – Porsche took fully built vehicles from the production line, dismantled them, and then re-assembled everything with the modifications in place. The result was not only breath-taking in appearance, but also functional, with M505-equipped 911 Turbos enjoying higher downforce and an increased top speed. Of course, for the final year of 930 production, Porsche added what has since become one of the most desirable changes to the Turbo made to that point: the G50 five-speed manual. While performance never truly suffered with the older four-speed, the G50 allowed knowledgeable drivers to more easily manage the Turbo's unique driving properties. Naturally, 1989 911 Turbos, especially those ordered with the extremely low production 'slantnose' package, are some of the most desirable examples of the vaunted 930.
The marvelous 1989 Porsche 930 911 Turbo 3. 3 'Slantnose' Sunroof Coupe featured here is finished in classic Guards Red over a stunning Cashmere supple leather interior. This exquisite motorcar was ordered with an extensive array of factory options including fully adjustable power front sports seats, supple leather, a shortened gear shift lever, a Blaupunkt 'Reno' AM/ FM/ cassette stereo, and, of course, the all-important M505 package. This incredible motorcar has been meticulously maintained from new and is a recipient of a complete, engine-out service completed in 2025 to ensure it is ready for its next caretaker. We are proud to offer what we believe to be one of the very best 930 'Slantnose' Coupes available anywhere in the world to the most demanding collector, investor, or enthusiast who desires to own one of the very best at an investment price!
