History
The Renault 5 Turbo 2 is a car that epitomizes rally bred performance & raw driving excitement. Born in the early 1980s as a homologation special for Group B rallying, it was designed to dominate both the competition & the imagination of enthusiasts worldwide.
Following in the footsteps of the original Renault 5 Turbo, the Turbo 2 retained much of the DNA that made its predecessor legendary while incorporating subtle changes to make it more accessible for production.
Manufactured in early 1983 & delivered to it’s first UK owner in April 1983, this Renault 5 Turbo 2 has clearly been looked after it’s whole life.
This Turbo 2 was owned by a Renault main dealer director for the early 23 years of it’s life, joining a large collection of other rare & classic Renaults.
More recently this car formed part of a high level collection before coming to us.
This car has spent a portion of time tucked away from the elements, having been unused.

Body & Paintwork
The body of the Renault 5 Turbo 2 is designed not only for aesthetics but also to enhance aerodynamics, improve cooling, & accommodate the performance focused mechanical layout.
Finished in white, this Turbo 2 looks superb.
The wide, flared wheel arches & bold air intakes are standout features and set the car apart from almost everything on the road.
All glass appears to be original & all badging & lights are in good condition as you would hope.
Interior & Trim
Opening the door of this Turbo 2, the striking red interior is fantastic.
The Red velour seats all present very well & are very comfortable, a signature of Renault seats.
The original Phillips radio/ cassette player is still fitted & works as it should, adding to the 80s experience of sitting in the driver seat.
All other gauges, switches & electric windows & mirror work as they should, a testament to the care this car has had.
Engine
The engine of the Renault 5 Turbo 2 is one of its most defining features, setting it apart as a rally bred legend.
At its heart is a 1. 4-liter inline-four engine, which was turbocharged to deliver exhilarating performance.
Known as the Cléon-Fonte engine, it was adapted from Renault’s proven powertrain lineup but significantly reworked to meet the demands of high-performance driving.
The circa 160bhp propels the Turbo 2 from 0-62 in under 7 seconds, the feeling of the turbo pushing you back into the seat is a feeling that would never grow old.
This example starts perfectly every time, no hesitations, smoke or unwanted noises.
Running Gear
As with the rest of the vehicle, all running gear is in great order.
Having passed a MOT in 2024 & now heading through our workshop for a service & full check over you can rest assured this Turbo 2 is ready for the summer roads or to join a collection.
The car previously had an underside refresh & presents very nicely.
The original Ronal alloy wheels have been refurbished and have almost unworn, period correct Michelin tyres fitted.
On the road the car feels comfortable yet capable with no unwanted noises.
