Recently imported from South Africa where it was displayed in the Graaf Reinet museum (now closed) from whom we purchased the car. Service history/ records show it was fully restored around 20 years ago and it still presents really well today with blemish free paintwork, no rust issues or any evidence of previous welding.
There is a letter on file in the history from a leading Mini specialist in South Africa confirming the authenticity;
Correct S spec. engine and gearbox
Block number is AEG312 and the cylinder head cast number is AEG613
Hardy Spicer diff and couplings with the correct driveshaft
Front 7. 4 inch disc brakes and rear widened drums
Twin fuel tank with captive nut from the factory for the tank straps
Boot board brackets are factory fitted
Correct oil cooler and mounting point are factory fitted, forged cast type rocker set.
120mph speedometer is present showing 84, 000 miles which appears genuine looking at the records on file.
It runs on uprated HS4 SU carbs for extra performance.
