In 2009, the construction of this Cobra replica started. The body is from Pilgrim and a Fiero Factory chassis was used for the chassis. This chassis is based on Ford technology as it should be with a Cobra. The engine is a 5. 0 liter (4942 cm3) V8 from a Ford Thunderbird and delivers 203 hp, which in combination with an empty weight of only 1050 kg is a recipe for a lot of fun. The engine was overhauled before installation and equipped with an MSD ignition. The five-speed gearbox is a Borg-Warner T5 and the rear axle sports a limited slip differential. The Cobra is equipped with sidepipes (with catalytic converters!).
The colour scheme is great, the colour scheme for a Cobra: a blue metallic exterior with, as it should be, painted in the colour white “go faster stripes”. The beautiful beige-coloured interior is covered with real leather. The dashboard is richly equipped with Smiths Classic Range instruments. The Smiths speedometer is calibrated. This Cobra has a very nice “stance” due to the mounted coilovers and the cool 15 inch “Halibrand-look” rims with wide BF Goodrich tires. That really makes this Cobra complete!
The entire construction of this replica is documented by means of a complete photo report that perfectly displays the entire construction, and a full folder containing all invoices, specifications, the RDW procedure, etc. In 2015, the construction of this Cobra was so far advanced that the car could be provided with a registration. Now, with many replicas, that correct license plate is a major issue. Not so with this car: this registration did not go via the then usual and much easier route with a registration in the Netherlands based on some registered license plate from England. Fortunately, the manufacturer of this Cobra did not choose this route: the Cobra underwent the entire investigation and inspection process in the Netherlands, at the RDW in Lelystad. That immediately explains why this Cobra is equipped with daytime running lights, seats with headrests, a third brake light and three-point seat belts.
This Cobra is therefore, after a payment of no less than € 13, 932, - in BPM, correctly registered in the Netherlands. On February 17, 2015, the car was registered for the first time, directly in the Netherlands in the name of still the current owner. This replica therefore has the correct registration of engine capacity, number of cylinders and has an officially registered chassis number. The car even has emission class 6 on the registration!
After registration, the car has only driven 11, 000 km, NAP correct. In the meantime small teething problems have been solved and there is now an almost new Cobra replica ready from the first owner for the next new owner with correct NL registration.
