Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The March Timed Online Auction on Thursday the 27th of March. Background:Land Rover’s venerable Defender series debuted in 1983, taking over from the tried and trusted 'Series' Landies, beloved by generations of farmers, soldiers, explorers and adventurers. A design icon as globally recognised as a London black cab or double-decker bus, the Defender ushered the all-wheel drive, go-anywhere, do-anything Land Rover into a new era. It introduced improved road manners thanks to its all-coil spring suspension and permanent all-wheel drive with a lockable centre differential - both borrowed from the Range Rover.
A sales success from day one, the Defender’s 33 year lifespan and excellent survival rate mean that these vehicles are likely to remain a regular feature on most roads - and off them - for many years to come.
The car:
This UK-supplied, right-hand drive 2011 Defender 2. 4 110 XS TD D/ C comes to market having been in the care of its current owner since 2014. The V5 shows just two former keepers and the mileage at the time of cataloguing was 32, 348.
The vehicle is finished in a fetching shade of green and sports a black interior with simulated leather seats and trim with cloth inserts. The spec of modern Defenders is leagues ahead of the original utilitarian stripped-out cabins and this long-wheelbase seven-seater is still very much a comfortable companion, whether you’re restricting your trip to tarmac, or heading into more challenging terrain. Naturally, there’s very little that the planet (or your family) could throw at you that the Defender won’t cope with admirably.
This handsome family-friendly machine will be accompanied by a history file that includes old MOT’s, sundry invoices and the service book, in which the last stamp was in March 2023 when the mileage was shown as 31, 233.
The car has always been kept in a garage under its current long-term ownership and presents as you would expect for its very low mileage. The vendor comments that it’s a very clean example with no accident damage, a fresh MOT has just been issued valid until 6th March 2026 plus the car was the beneficiary of a recent oil and filter change.
Summary:On offer for the first time in over a decade, this low-owner and low-mileage example looks to be an exciting and rare opportunity. There is simply no match for a Defender and it would be hard to find a better example at this guide price.
