DESCRIPTION

Under the brainchild of John Cooper who persuaded British Motor Corporation (BMC) to trial run 1000 examples, By producing these examples this ensured the Homologation rules required to race in Group 2 rallying, From there quite simply the rest is history!

Having victories in the Monte Carlo rally in 1964, 1965 and 1967 a true legend was born

EXTERNAL

This is a beautiful vehicle with having undertaken a full complete nut and bolt restoration. Having been finished to a very high standard on the undercarriage with sub frames being restored and powder coated along with all running gear being replaced throughout ensuring nothings been left wanting for anything

Expense, Time and dedication has not been an issue incorporating a fully adjustable (dry)suspension setup being fitted along with all consumables as per requirements. Paintworks displaying a glass finish in Austin ‘Old English White’ over a 'Black' Roof

All panels sitting immaculate with a deep glass shine along with pin sharp fitment throughout. Chrome work front to rear simplys stunning with the classic chrome bumpers fitted front and rear with over riders plus corner bars gleaming, Front slatted chrome grill sparkling

Single chrome twist door handles sit on both drivers and passengers side doors working beautifully. Front drivers and passengers doors also have the rally theme slide open guise windows which operate without fault along with Pull/ Snap hinged rear windows which operate impeccably

Chrome work and rubbers around all window areas presents fresh and fade free. With being a true ‘Cooper S’ example displaying the twin twist chrome petrol filler caps any 'genuine' example would be expected to have

Upon opening the drop down boot you instantly see the twin tanks along with a unique colour coded fabric shelf simply stunning. All lights front and rear present in the very best of condition crack and fade free and of course genuine ensuring originality has been maintained throughout

Badging sitting correct beaming with brashness and boldness.

INTERNAL

Upon opening the drivers or passenger side doors you instantly see the beautiful Red outer bolsters with contrasting Grey/ Gold centres finished with Red outer piping, Both front and rear seats in unmarked condition

This vehicle needs simply viewing to appreciate the love and detail. Having matching door cards front and rear finished in the traditional Grey & Gold livery

Single Red colour coded leather door ajar strap attached to the ‘A’ pillar on both front doors respectively. Black fixed front seatbelts finish of the basic but functional safety aspects

Striking Red colour coded interior carpet with protective heel pads sitting displaying no wear

Original white ripple honeycomb affect headlining sits beautiful with original interior light centre bound. With drivers and passengers sun visors simply attached below

Basic can only be used to sum up the interior but adequate and clutter free three dial centre dash displaying Water Temperature to the left, Speedometer sitting larger to the centre(original) and Oil Pressure to the right

All coursery information warning lights extinguish accordingly along with various toggle switches including the ignition switch sitting directly underneath, A factory optional ‘Fresh Air Heater’ requested at build remains within the vehicle and fully functional

A three spoke chrome over wooden steering wheel which were original fit to the ‘Cooper S’ sits in wonderful condition highlighting little if any use. A very sixties theme interior minimalistic but practical.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION

A quality Bill Richards engine burbles away under the bonnet housing twin  ‘SU’ carburettors

 With an Evo-1 Camshaft fitted inside a ‘Fast Road Engine’ being bored to +20 giving you a 1293cc engine over the standard 1275cc

With a ported and polished head along with standard crank and mains, Big ends are +10 ensuring you have the best of power and torque whilst not over doing it

Matched to a 4-speed (3 synchros) manual gearbox which has been fully rebuilt throughout exactly the same as it would of left the factory with. The vehicle drives beautifully handling town and country roads with ease, Having approx 100-bhp on tap.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES

Fitted with original steel colour coded 10" 4-stud wheels with centre chrome polished caps in immaculate condition sitting on new Dunlop SR-10 Tyres on each corner.

Factory upgraded larger front disc brakes were fitted along with drums to the rear, To increase stopping power, A new old stock factory fit larger brake booster has been fitted to ensure your brought to a steady and refined halt along with steel pipework as standard

HISTORY FILE

Take nothing away this is one very special rare example

This vehicle was built in September 1964 and first registered on the 1st January 1965 overseas, The vehicle was then brought to the UK and registered on the 1st December 2018

Having undertaken a meticulous restoration process spanning a good few years and completing in 2024, No stone has been left unturned front to back, top to bottom every area having been addressed to present one of the very best Mini Cooper 'S' examples on sale today without doubt

Engines a complete Bill Richards new build as per above (will require gentle running in), 3 synchro Gearbox alike rebuilt and as good if not better than the day it left the factory

Anybody that knows will know on the build quality and engine/ gearbox quite simply find another!

Vehicle retains the original speedometer displaying 97404-miles however the newly rebuilt engine and gearbox has covered no more than 100-miles since being built hence it will require running in
