The Metro-Tyler company was the result of the Birmingham-based Metro company, who had been producing motorcycles powered by a 269cc two-stroke single of their own manufacture since 1912, being taken over by Tyler Apparatus Co. Ltd of London in 1919. For 1923 the company offered a number of variants including a fully enclosed model and a sports version with a two-speed gearbox, kickstart and clutch, as well as the variant offered here, which at '34 guineas' was proclaimed in the catalogue as being "the cheapest and lightest 2 ½hp Motor Cycle at present on the market".
With just less than a handful of Metro Tylers known to the VMCC, which makes it a very unique Vintage machine today, this particular Metro Tyler was fully restored to a good standard some time ago by a previous owner who looked after it very well. It was purchased by the late owner as he was collecting unusual Pioneer and early Vintage machines. Since in his ownership, it has formed part of a display and has therefore not been used for several years and now requires some checking over before use. There are no documents with this lot, but it is on the DVLA database. To be sold without reserve.
