Description
We are excited to offer this car for sale, the car our Managing Director wants to add to his own fleet!
Introduced in 2002, the RS6 was Audi’s answer to the BMW M5 and the Mercedes E55/ E63. It was originally powered by a twin-turbocharged 4. 2-litre V8, before the second-generation model switched to a 5-litre V10 and became, at that time, Audi’s most powerful road car.
The third-generation RS6 was launched in 2013, and was sold in the UK only as the Avant estate. It reverted to a twin-turbo V8, this time the 4-litre unit that was also found in the Bentley Continental GT. Producing 552bhp in standard form, it drove all four wheels through an eight-speed gearbox, and the driveline also included a self-locking centre differential and a limited-slip rear differential.
Tyres were 285-section all round and there was the option of 21in wheels. The braking system featured 390mm front discs and the standard suspension was via RS-tuned adaptive air springs, although there was the option of conventional coils.
Inside, leather trim was standard – part of a generous specification list that also included sat-nav, a DAB stereo, LED headlights and a Bose sound system. There was a Drive Select system, too, which enabled the driver to choose between Comfort, Auto, Dynamic or Individual modes for areas such as the engine, gearbox and suspension.
The monocoque was mostly steel, but the use of aluminium helped to reduce weight compared to the previous generation. Aluminium was also used for the bonnet, front wings, doors and bootlid, and the total saving was 90kg over the older car.
Combined with the mighty V8 engine, that weight-saving helped to give the RS6 immense performance for what was still a luxuriously trimmed estate car. Autocar recorded a 0-60mph time of 3. 7 seconds – faster than it managed for the contemporary Porsche 911 GT2 RS – and 0-100mph in only 8. 7 seconds, which was more than a second faster than the outgoing V10-engined RS6.
The magazine’s road-testers noted that such figures left them ‘in awe that such bald speed can be packaged with this much luxuriousness and onboard space’ and that the Audi would ‘devour whole rows of slow-moving traffic in face-squashing, space-defying bouts of genuinely unearthly acceleration.’
First registered 10 January 2014, this Audi RS6 was serviced by main dealers until 2018, and in subsequent years it has been maintained by Mellors Elliot Motorsport in Derbyshire. Numerous invoices in its history file confirm that it has been cared for with no expense spared. During 2024, it was treated to work that totalled more than £14, 000 and which included the replacement of all eight injectors.
It has also benefitted from new suspension arms and a new radiator, and in late 2023 it was fitted with new brake discs and pads all round. The result this car is an extremely well-sorted example of this muscular estate car having been looked after with a no cost barrier which is now being offered for sale ready to offer its next owner a rare blend of Audi performance and sure footed handling, style and practicality
The car is currently residing with Rally Preparation Services sister Company, RPS Storage Ltd and available for inspection.
