Here we have for sale this 1974 Land Rover® Series 3, finished in the Marine Blue colour scheme with Limestone Wheels. This truck has benefitted from a galvanised chassis rebuild in recent years to a high standard and spec – read on below.
Externally, this Series 3 has all the features one would expect – the vintage number plates, rear grab handles, new chevron tyres with matching bonnet mounted spare etc etc. There have been some modern additions to make things easier such as the tow bar and electrics to allow towing and larger defender mirrors for better visibility. A recent bumper, exhaust and canvas complete the look and we think the photos really speak for themselves – this is a very handsome machine that looks just right.
The interior is largely as one would expect, housing three front deluxe seats with outer front seat belts, with deluxe matting to the footwells. The rear is not fitted, but could house bench seats on request for £595 to bring seating to seven occupants including the driver. There is a load mat to the rear floor to protect against scratches too.
Out on the road is where this Series 3 really shines though – the petrol engine is a joy and the Weber Carburettor affords additional power over standard, which is aided by the 750 chevron tyres which not only look good, but extend the gearing and affords a more relaxed cruise. An overdrive means superior economy when cruising and less noise in the cabin when driving at higher speeds. There is a decent amount of supporting paperwork, which includes some bills for the rebuild.. a nice touch for the new keeper.
In summary then, if you are looking for a galvanised chassis Series 3 Land Rover® which can stand the test of time, then this could be for you. With the mechanical upgrades over standard complimenting the MOT & Tax Exemption alongside Classic Insurance, then this could be a good option…. and with the potential to add bench seats to bring seating to seven people including the driver, the whole family can come too – should you want them to!
