Description
This lot will be auctioned via Iconic Auctioneers, The March Timed Online Auction on Thursday the 27th of March. HistoryThe Tuscan was a thoughtfully conceived car — one that looked sensational and went like stink. Production ran from 1999 to 2006, with a historic name that pays homage to the original Tuscan, introduced in 1967.
'Speed Six' refers to the TVR-designed and manufactured straight-six engine fitted to the final TVR model range, right up to the closure of the TVR factory. The Speed Six engine was announced for the Griffith Speed Six at the 1996 Motor Show. It was then shown in a Cerbera in 1997 as an alternative to the AJP V8 but became the only engine used in the Tuscan, followed by the Tamora, T350, Sagaris, T400, T440, and Typhon.
One of the standout features of the Tuscan range was TVR’s first regular use of Spectraflair, Reflex, Pearl, and Chromaflair paints. You may also hear these called 'flips', 'tricolour', or 'chameleon' paints. They can make blue cars appear green when viewed from different angles, or turn copper to purple.
The CarThis car is finished in Iris Blue over a cream interior, topped off with a lovely set of gunmetal grey spoked alloys. TVRs are a rare sight on the road, making this a perfect car for the finer days of the year. The current owner has had it for three years, during which it has been kept in storage and used rarely for shows and weekend trips.
It has just ticked over 58, 000 miles, during which it has been regularly serviced and maintained. It has a virtually new set of Michelin PS4 tyres and will also come with a fresh 12 month MOT.
This is a lovely, usable example from a unique British car manufacturer, ready to be driven straight away. It does have a few paintwork issues, mainly on the removable fibreglass roof, where the paint has started to lift and peel away. It’s a fine piece of British engineering, ready to be used and enjoyed.
The engine starts, idles, and runs well with no smoke. The gearbox changes smoothly, and the rear axle is quiet and problem-free. The vendor reports that the car is a pleasure to drive, with impressive power and good handling.
