Makes for an interesting future
Here we have an interesting vehicle, a Ford Escort 55D Van finished in white with contrasting grey trim. This van was put into storage, seemingly very well and in the right conditions, in 2023 with the intention to keep hold of it for a few years and then completely restore it back to “as new” condition (not that it particularly needs it). Circumstances have dictated otherwise, hence it is now being offered for sale at No Reserve. As we are all beginning to learn, the classic van market is growing very fast and some Escort vans have sold for in excess of £20, 000! Not this one granted, but as time goes on this could be one of those vans.
Upon inspection it is in pretty good shape; there is a crack in the windscreen, a bit of surface rust on the rear panel, and we are sure if you interrogate it more you will find other things, but that is to be expected on a vehicle of this age. It has a tidy interior, having been half panelled in the rear, and presents rather well. One of the reasons for this is that the HPi tells us that it has been subject to two insurance category markers, the first in April 2003 (Category D) and the second in February 2013 (Category C). Often when this happens and the vehicle is rebuilt, it is often rebuilt better than it was when new, but please make up your own mind.
The van comes with a little bit of history in the form of some invoices and MOT history. It still has its spare keys and has only had 3 previous owners, which is nice. Looking at the MOT history, it would suggest that the van has covered 102, 000 miles, but again, please check this out for yourself.
PLEASE NOTE: This Lot is recorded on HPi as ‘Category D Insurance Loss. Vehicle Damaged But Repairable - Insurer Decided Not To Repair 04/ 04/ 2003’ and ‘Category C Insurance Loss. Vehicle Extensively Damaged But Repairable - Insurer Decided Not To Repair 28/ 02/ 2013’.
