Description
1975 MGB GT
Overview:
Please reach out for any further information, or specific photos/ walkaround videos. Part exchanges of any age/ value are welcomed, I can assist with trailered delivery in the UK or Europe, and offer worldwide shipping. A mechanical checkover, fresh MOT test & engine service will be carried out for the new owner.
A genuine and un-molested example in superb condition both aesthetically & mechanically, totally solid throughout.
Well documented service/ parts/ MOT history and restored/ painted/ re-trimmed in 2005. MOT certificates evidence the mileage to be 69, 116, the odometer shows 14, 324 since restoration in 2005.
Finished in the charming (and very 70’s!) colour of Bracken over Black Leather & dark Walnut veneers with a Black Tudor Webasto roof.
Present with the car is a current V5 log book, 2x full key sets, clear ‘HPI’ report, historic & current service history & MOT certificates. The original owners manual is present, and although legible looks like it has been chewed by a previous owners dog at the top! A new reproduction manual is in the file, but I prefer the one that has a story to tell…
I was born into an ‘MG family’ so was understandably excited when this was offered to me in part exchange. Owned by a true gentleman who needed something more modern and fancied a cabriolet, I had the pleasure of providing him with a lovely Porsche 944 S2.
When I paused for a moment to really take the car in and digest the history file, I realised what an honest and well loved car it is and has been throughout it’s life. I have always had a huge soft spot for orange shades on a ‘B’ thanks to two cars that have been in my life since I was in a car seat! My Uncle’s Blaze Orange roadster and a dear friend’s (and my driving instructor, poor guy!!) Bracken Roadster both of which always stood out in a line of MG’s at any event.
Fitted with a period “Monte Carlo Tudor Webasto sunroof which is watertight and smooth in its operation. With a surprising lack of wind noise and no loss of headroom I think it’s a must have on a GT, something you can look forward to using on a nice day!
Maintenance history & mechanical condition:
I am happy to present the car for an MOT test and mechanical check-over upon sale.
The vehicle’s service & maintenance history has been well documented back to 1985 (please see photo’s) with extensive parts invoices, MOT certificates and service work invoices.
Photographs show a sympathetic restoration in 2005 including inner/ outer sills, door bottom’s & arches plus a full re-paint and fitment of a new interior.
MOT certificates evidence the mileage was only 54, 792 at the time of the works being carried out prior to a new speedo being fitted showing 855 miles the following year.
I am very familiar with MGB’s and can say that it drives very well indeed, with no faults to note. The overdrive engages/ disengages quickly and gearbox/ clutch/ steering/ braking are all as they should be.. The trusty B-series starts and idles as it should with good oil pressure and a surprisingly barely ‘marks its spot’ when parked!
There are no areas of corrosion on the vehicle, bar the odd small surface spot. The seams, arches, sills, boot floor and all other usual areas are absolutely solid.
All panels gaps are good and the boot, bonnet and doors close nicely. Operation of the fresh air vent is smooth as are the windows & 1/ 4 lights.
The 14” Rosstyle wheels are in good order and tyres are dated 2020 with no damage or perishing.
Bodywork & interior:
All paintwork presents very well and bar a few blemishes is generally excellent on all panels. All glass is free from damage, the rubbers are in good order and watertight.
The sides are free from all but the smallest of ‘car park’ dings with no notable damage to be seen on any panel. The rubber bumpers are un-damaged and have held their colour well.
Inside the interior is excellent throughout, no noticeable wear or damage to be found. Looking back through the file & resto photos it was re-done in 2005 and has had a refresh in 2019.
The seats are excellent quality with beautiful leather, they recline and are fitted with headrests and seatbelt guides.
I think the wood veneer really makes a difference to the feel of the interior, the 14” Mountney wheel gives easier access and hasn’t affected steering weight negatively.
Supplied but not fitted is a stereo and speaker set, something I’m happy to arrange fitment of if required.
