Description
We are delighted to get back into stock the nicest early 996 Carrera coupe we’ve ever seen. V749LYA is a manual 1999 Carrera coupe in Arctic Silver with Metropole Blue extended leather interior, and has covered just 71, 655 miles over the last 25 years.
Flat Six Classics first bought the car in November 2023 from a local chap who, in addition to regular servicing, undertook a huge programme of refurbishment and improvement over the five years he had the car, covering all aspects: brakes, brake lines, IMS upgrade, clutch, exhaust system, cooling system, suspension, AC condensers, wheel refurbishment, Michelin tyres, modern hifi unit with DAB etc etc. The inch think history file contains all invoices from 2009 to present, along with old purchase invoices, MOT certificates, and a fully stamped service record with 18 stamps for scheduled maintenance.
V749LYA was first registered to a Dr Bates from Taunton, who collected his car from the Porsche factory in Stuttgart on 12 November 1999, before registering the car as 52 AKB on 15 November 1999. It was specified with the following factory options: 18″ 993 Turbo look wheels, Litronic xenon headlamps with washer system, rear wiper, PSM Porsche Stability Management, gear knob and handbrake lever with aluminium inlay, Sun roof, air conditioning, auto dimming interior mirror, on board computer, 6 disc CD changer, draped leather front and rear seats, leather dashboard and door cards, top tinted windscreen. Previous owners have updated the audio system with a double DIN DAB/ Bluetooth unit, and some cosmetic improvements including a painted centre console with ashtray delete, and a recovered steering wheel by Royal Steering Wheels in 2024. Total invoiced expenditure over the past 6 years amounts to almost £20, 000.
The service history is excellent. The car has spent pretty much it’s entire life in South West England, with the maintenance book showing 6 stamps from Porsche Centre Exeter, and a further 12 stamps from recognised SW Porsche specialists including Oakdens, Specialist Vehicles, Williams Crawford, SCS Porsche and Flat Six Classics.
The car drives beautifully, with fabulous performance from the 3. 4-litre flat six, smooth and precise gearchanges, accurate steering with plenty of feel, and the brakes are powerful and progressive. The cosmetic condition is excellent throughout, the interior in especially good condition with supple leather and unmarked dash and doorcards.
