Description
- First delivered to Sanderson & Holmes in Derby on August 1st, 1959, chassis S824998DN was first registered as ‘RL 48’ by its original owner, Mr. Robert Locke.
- Since then, the car has remained with Jaguar enthusiasts throughout its life, and the history file includes servicing records and MOTs to back up the 53, 000 miles on the clock.
- Originally specified in Cotswold Blue with Grey leather, the car was entrusted to Wildae Restorations Ltd in 1979 to carry out a body-off-chassis restoration.
- During the restoration, the car was repainted in Old English White and the interior retrimmed in Red leather, which although not original to the car, is surely one of the most timeless Jag colour combos.
- Aside from regular maintenance and servicing, this XK150 has been updated to meet modern expectations while retaining its original character. Notable upgrades include:
- Reliability improvements such as the ‘123’ electronic ignition system, an upgraded radiator core with an additional aluminium header tank, a spin-off engine oil filter, alternator, and Kevlar reinforced radiator hoses.
- Driving enhancements like factory fitted overdrive, polybushed suspension, a solid mounted steering rack, Koni front and Gaz rear shock absorbers, and improved braking with Coopercraft front brake discs paired with four-pot callipers and fast road brake pads.
- Safety and comfort updates including four way hazard lights, an automatic choke override, seat belts, a battery isolator switch, bucket seats with bolsters, a woodrim steering wheel, and a full bespoke Air Conditioning system developed by Clayton Engineering.
- In November 2011 the engine underwent a complete rebuild that involved refacing the cylinder block and head, fitting new valve guides, replacing pistons, rings, bearings, and other key components – a thorough job following whic only 7, 000 miles have been covered.
- Beyond the mechanical updates, this car comes with a fantastically full and organised history file, a new MOT valid until February 2026, two sets of wheels and tyres, and even original parts that were replaced during the upgrade process.
- And so if you’re after an XK150 that’s been kept true to form but improved where it counts, this one’s worth a look.
