‘G444 WLM’ started life as a limited edition Mini Rose, of which just 400 were thought to have been made. From new, however, ‘G444 WLM’ was professionally converted to a cabriolet specification with a roll over bar fitted along with additional strengthening and a hood. This, of course, makes it a very rare Mini indeed. ‘G444 WLM’s’ current owner is the sixth to date having acquired the Mini in January 2017 with a modest 68, 000 miles covered so far. ‘G444 WLM’ has benefitted from plenty of work over the years, including a restoration about 5 years ago. This included a respray, as well as attention to the engine and brakes. ‘G444 WLM’ is currently SORN so will require an MOT before road use. Offered here with no reserve.
This rare Mini looks distinctive with its Surrey Top style hood and bright white livery. This is complemented by black wheel arch extensions and matt black painted bumpers. A sporty set of RSP Minilite style alloy wheels are also fitted. The legendary, small but commodious Mini cabin is finished with the grey fabric standard on the Mini Rose. A three spoke Mini steering wheel is fitted and the dashboard is fitted with a white finished facia panel with built in glove box. The carpets are finished in black, and the standard Mini instrument binnacle is present. The vendor rated the bodywork and paintwork as “average” and the interior as “good.”
In mechanical terms ‘G444 WLM’ is standard Mini fare. This means the erstwhile 998cc A-Plus engine is transversely placed in the engine bay. In this iteration it was fed by a single carburettor and originally produced around 42bhp. Power is fed to the front wheels via a four speed manual transmission. ‘G444 WLM’ combines a sensible original mileage with a recent mechanical overhaul to present in a reportedly decent mechanical condition. The engine and transmission is rated as “good” and the electrics as “average.” The original Mini Sky and Rose models were produced in a total edition of 1, 000 cars. Roughly 400 of these were the Rose (pink roof) and 600 the Sky (blue roof).
In summary:
A very rare Mini professionally converted from new to a cabriolet
Benefitting from a restoration around 5 years ago
Offered with a sensible mileage and ownership history
