History of the Jaguar XK 150 FHC

The Jaguar XK 150 FHC is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating sports coupés of its era, embodying the perfect symbiosis of elegance, performance, and British craftsmanship. As an evolution of the successful XK series, Jaguar introduced the XK 150 in 1957— a model that not only brought technological innovations but also refined the classic design language of the British manufacturer. This "big cat" was designed by Sir William Lyons, the co-founder of Jaguar.
With its sleek, aerodynamic design and distinctive front end, the XK 150 followed the stylistic lineage of its predecessors while introducing a modernized body with a higher beltline and a wider track. The Fixed Head Coupé (FHC), in particular, impressed with its closed form, offering not only a sophisticated look but also excellent long-distance capability.
However, the XK 150 was not just a masterpiece of design but also a technical revelation. From 1959, a powerful 3. 8-liter engine with 220 horsepower was installed under the long bonnet. Thanks to modern disc brakes on all four wheels— a groundbreaking innovation for a production car at the time— the XK 150 offered outstanding driving performance and impressive deceleration, giving it a competitive edge over its rivals.
On the road, the XK 150 FHC unfolded its full potential. With a top speed of over 200 km/ h and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/ h in around eight seconds, it ranked among the fastest production cars of its era. However, it wasn’t just the raw performance figures that impressed— the XK 150 also offered exceptional driving stability and a high level of comfort for its time, making it ideal for both sporty drives and extended tours.
The XK 150 also left its mark on motorsports. The DNA of Jaguar’s legendary Le Mans race cars flowed into its design, making it a sought-after vehicle among private racers. Its combination of power, precision, and stylish presence quickly made it a favorite among enthusiasts and collectors.
With only a few thousand units produced, the Jaguar XK 150 FHC remains a coveted collector’s item to this day. Those fortunate enough to own or drive such a vehicle experience not only the fascination of British automotive history but also the perfection of a sports coupé that was far ahead of its time. The XK 150 FHC— a timeless masterpiece that embodies the spirit of classic grand touring to perfection.

History of the Jaguar XK 150 FHC on Offer
A distinguished gentleman on wheels— the Jaguar XK 150 FHC, a coupé that combines British nobility with sporty sophistication! Produced on September 22, 1959, this refined racer made its way across the Atlantic to the United States, where it found itself in the capable hands of a lady in Belvedere, California. A fitting place indeed— a truly majestic "Belvedere" for an automotive eye-catcher.
After an initial comprehensive restoration, the lady decided to part with her rolling jewel in 1993. This British gentleman then found its way back to Germany via an exporter, specifically to Nideggen, where it was re-registered in 1994. A brief detour to Münster in 2006, and soon after, it landed in the experienced hands of a passionate collector of classic British automobiles.
In 2007, its new owner commissioned a no-compromise “Nuts & Bolts” restoration, leaving no stone (or rather, screw) unturned. A renowned Jaguar specialist workshop took on the task, and after two years of meticulous work, the coupé shone in renewed glory. For those who seek proof, a comprehensive restoration photo book is available— a true pictorial tribute to automotive craftsmanship!
The body now presents itself in Jaguar’s in-house color "Gun Metal Grey"— a shade that gives the vehicle an aura of cool elegance and beautifully accentuates the many chrome details. But it wasn’t just about aesthetics: the mechanics and interior were also expertly restored, improved where necessary, or in most cases, completely renewed.
A five-speed gearbox was carefully integrated to ensure a more comfortable touring experience. Electronic ignition? Of course. A Tripmaster connection? Also on board. And for the perfect period-correct soundtrack, a contemporary Blaupunkt radio with iPod connection has been stylishly embedded into a custom-made, leather-trimmed console with toggle switches that control the choke, fuel pump, and more.
Since its rejuvenation, this Jaguar has covered 6, 327 kilometers— with the same aristocratic pride it displayed back in the 1950s.
Engine, transmission, chassis, brakes, and interior— everything is in like-new condition, without fault or flaw. The latest appraisal has awarded this XK 150 the well-deserved rating of 1-.
A Jaguar for the true connoisseur— an automobile that harmoniously unites style and driving pleasure in perfect balance!
