1989 Renault GTA V6
Registration – F888 OLC
Chassis No. – VF1Dthe details below
M. O. T. – NO
Odometer – 130, 000
A rare example of Renault’s Eighties grand tourer, this example of the French firm’s GTA V6 features an unusual colour scheme and is resplendent in rich blue. ‘F888 OLC’ features the V6 unit which gives the GTA its name, with the 2. 9-litre driving the rear wheels through a five-speed manual gearbox. The Renault features not only all the design features that made it so striking, both now, and in its day, such as the twin-exhausts, the large rear glasshouse, and twin-five spoke alloys, but it even proudly displays period elements such as the Club Alpine-Renault window sticker and RenaultSport badges. The interior is trimmed in black, with leather sports bucket seats front and rear - it is a 2+2 after all - as well as factory-fitted elements such as rear engine cover, electric windows, stereo with amplifier, and trip computer all found in the cabin.
Presented in very fine condition thorough out, the vendor describes ‘F888 OLC’ as having recently received an ‘overhaul costing over £5, 000’. All areas of the GTA V6 are reckoned to be in ‘good’ condition, including the engine, transmission, electrics, bodywork, paint, and interior. Coming with a comprehensive service history, as well as owners manuals, this example of Renault’s GTA V6 has covered an indicated 130, 000 miles, and will come with a new MOT if required.
· Just nine owners from new
· High specification model
· Desirable Eighties grand tourer
Renault started production of the GTA at the end of 1984, and was the first model to come from the Alpine name officially under Renault ownership. Replacing the Alpine A310 from the 1970s, the GTA V6 was distinctly Eighties in design, and was designed to compete in the grand tourer market, against the likes of Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, and Porsche. Despite its conventional coupe styling, the GTA is actually a rear-engined machine, which made comparison with the Porsche 911 easy. It was replaced in 1991 with the revised A610.
