1962 MGA Roadster 1600 MK 2
This original UK RHD example is a rare survivor indeed being one of only sixty MK 2 1600 Roadsters produced in 1962.
Finished in red with black interior and chrome wire wheels this MGA has clearly been treasured and cared for throughout its 63 year life and covered under 8000 miles in the last 44 years.
The very comprehensive history file dating back many years documents detailed maintenance, repairs, old Mot’s, tax discs, photos and previous sales invoices. The original buff log book is retained along with old style V5 documents. The last owner kept the car garaged, only using on dry days and prior to him, the car has only six previous recorded owners.
The highly polished paintwork looks stunning with a gorgeous lustre and depth of shine. The bodywork is exceptionally nice with no evidence of previous repair. The wings, doors, wheel arches, valances, bonnet and boot lid etc are very good. The chrome is all very good. The chrome wire wheels are excellent, fitted with all nearly new matching Continental tyres. The interior seat coverings, carpets, dashboard and door cards are virtually unmarked. Recent new tufted black, bound carpet set. The interior is finished off perfectly with a traditional wood rim ‘Motalita’ steering wheel. The hood cover is perfect with a clear, rear window, fitting as it should, as are the side screens. The hood frame has been overhauled with a new header rail fitted. The car comes with a fitted tonneau cover in as new condition. The underside is in remarkable condition immaculately clean with absolutely no signs of previous repair. The chassis is nicely protected in a smooth satin black finish, not coated in layers of underseal as is often the case. Replacement steering rack, shock absorbers, brake overhaul including brake pipes and complete stainless steel exhaust.
Starting on the button it certainly takes one back to when traditional British sports cars were at their best! Mechanically the well proven 1600 'B' series engine performs very well with its twin SU carburettors. Fitted with the desirable and well recognised five speed gearbox conversion with the quick shift gear lever, this is a welcome addition to an already fun quintessentially British sports roadster. Described by owners as a fantastic addition, it transforms the drive of the car from the standard four speed, feeling very under geared at any speed above 50 mph making the car far more suited to today’s modern roads. Factory fitted working heater for those chilly days!
The recorded mileage is 38000 miles however this cannot be guaranteed due the age of the car.
Classed as a historic vehicle, it benefits from Mot exemption and free road tax however we will supply the car with a full 12 months Mot for your peace of mind.
