Mazda MX5 Mk1: UK Car/ Service History/ Utterly Engaging
Launched in February 1989 at a time when small roadsters had almost disappeared from the market the MX5 quickly became the spiritual successor to the MGB, Triumph Spitfire and Fiat Spider
The lightweight monocoque featured a near perfect 50/ 50 front/ rear weight balance that provided neutral handling and an utterly addictive drive for any sports minded driver with a pulse.
At Milestone Classics we do have a soft spot for MX5’s - Jamie owned one for five years with regular track days at Goodwood - and very occasionally we find an example that meets Jamie’s exacting standards.
Our MX5 was purchased in 2017 by a retired gentleman looking for a car to use and enjoy with room for improvement.
The car was sent, over a period of time, to MX5 Restorer Ltd for remedial work including:
· Floor Rail Braces (Supply & Fit)
· Rear Wheel Arches
· Sill Replacement/ Rear Box Sections/ Jacking Point (Both Sides)
· Rain Rail
· Cavity Wax/ Underseal (including Subframes & Suspension Arms)
· Replacement Front Wings/ Front Sill Sections
· Rear Shock Absorbers
· Brake Inspection
· Suspension Geometry Check
Additional Work:
· Replacement Catalytic Converter
· Head Skimmed & Cam Belt
· Replacement Radiator
· Rear Calliper/ Pads
· Replacement Hood with Heated Glass Window
· Bespoke Door Cards & Mk 2 Seats
This Mazda comes with a nice history folder including a full book pack/ service book (10 stamps) back to 1994 and is available at a fraction of the money invested by the previous owner.
A perfect ‘modern classic’ that will only appreciate in value the car is ready to be used, enjoyed and, if required, abused. This example ticks all the boxes and will provide lots of fun and excitement to the lucky new keeper while only appreciating in value.
