Production of the Land Rover Series and Defenders ran for an incredible 67 years with just over 2 million examples produced from 1948 to 2016. An icon from day 1 the Land Rover was built in a huge array of configurations, with applications from farming, firefighting, defence, exploration and of course pure pleasure.
As the design of the Defender evolved over time it drew in a wider customer base. One of the most significant changes to the design came in 1998 when the Defender was fitted with an all-new 2. 5-litre, five cylinder in-line turbodiesel engine, badged the Td5. This engine was introduced to meet upcoming Euro III emissions regulations as well as provide more power, torque and better refinement for on-road driving. The Td5 Defender ran through until 2007, when it was replaced by Ford engines, and is seen by many Defender enthusiasts as the peak of Defender evolution.
The car we are delighted to offer is an incredibly clean, low mileage 90 Td5 hardtop in black with white roof and grey vinyl seats. A base spec car that has been completely unmolested by its 3 owners and that retains all of its original features. The chassis and bodywork are remarkably clean and she drives as well as any Defender we have looked after, which is a testament to the care and attention the car has had throughout its life.
This Defender has been owned by our client for 10 years now, during which time it has covered less than 3, 000 miles. It has always been dry stored and maintained by the family garage. Despite the low mileage the car has been MOT'd every year with clean passes each time and has a valid MOT until August 2025.
Due to the lack of use our client is now looking to find the next owner for this lovely car. Rare to find with such low mileage and in such great condition, he is hoping it is bought and enjoyed by a true enthusiast.
