Description
The Triumph TR6, produced between 1968 and 1976, is one of the most iconic models of the British brand. Succeeding the TR5, it retains the same mechanical base but adopts a modernized design by the German coachbuilder Karmann, giving it tighter lines and a more aggressive look.
At the heart of this car is a 2. 5-liter inline six-cylinder engine, equipped with Lucas mechanical injection. This version, mainly intended for the European market, originally developed 150 horsepower, offering highly appreciated performance for the time. Thanks to this power, the TR6 reaches 100 km/ h in about 8. 5 seconds, with a top speed exceeding 190 km/ h. The Lucas injection, although sophisticated, can be temperamental at times and requires rigorous maintenance to function optimally.
The TR6 is based on a ladder frame chassis and features independent rear suspension, a characteristic already introduced on the TR4A. This architecture gives it dynamic and pleasant road behavior, although the reactions of the rear axle can be surprising during sporty driving. The four-speed manual gearbox, often accompanied by an optional overdrive, allows full exploitation of the engine’s potential while offering smoother driving over long distances.
The interior is typically British, with a varnished wooden dashboard, enveloping seats, and a three-spoke steering wheel that accentuate the model’s vintage charm. Although it is a stripped-down roadster, the TR6 remains relatively comfortable for its time and offers a certain refinement.
This Triumph TR6 is equipped with the 150 hp CP engine. It has been fully restored and is equipped with a hardtop and a soft top. The photo file of the restoration is available. It is currently registered in France as a “normal” car.
This is probably the most beautiful TR6 we have ever encountered!
