This 1972 MG B GT comes to us from a long-term lady owner in Filey, who has enjoyed and carefully maintained the car for the past eight years. Finished in green with a well-presented interior, it offers a solid and enjoyable classic driving experience.
Registered as CKN 383K on the 1st of March 1972, the car originally spent its early years in the south before moving to Yorkshire in 2005. Since then, it has been regularly used for countryside drives and trips to the coast.
The previous owners have taken good care of the car, with maintenance carried out by Murray Scott Nelson, a respected classic car specialist in Scarborough. Recent work includes a new clutch kit, flywheel, top-end engine gasket set, engine mounts, oil cooler, slave cylinder, leaf springs, drop links, king pin assemblies, hubs, bearings, wishbones, brake discs, and brake pads, along with a set of four new tyres.
A few sensible upgrades have been fitted, including a high-torque starter motor, a lowering kit, and polyurethane anti-roll bar and trunnion bushes to improve reliability and handling.
Inside, the car has been well cared for, with updates such as new heating controls, a wooden centre console, a 15” steering wheel, new door handles, and replacement clocks.
In total, over £7, 000 has been spent in recent years on maintenance and improvements. Prior to this, the MGB had received a new fuel tank, a rear axle overhaul, electronic ignition, and inertia reel seatbelts. The history file contains invoices dating back to 1996, detailing servicing and parts from MG specialists.
Overall, this MG B GT presents as a well-maintained and usable classic. It’s not a show car but a solid example that has been cared for and improved where necessary. Suitable for someone looking to enjoy classic motoring, it would make a great choice for weekend drives or longer trips.
